It can depend on a variety of things from the severity of your condition to your weight. It is all about finding the proper balance. Let’s dig further into this below!

CBD Oil Dosage Disclaimer

As we mentioned above, the CBD industry is new and there is no perfect CBD oil dosage. The FDA has not yet gotten around to creating a Recommended Daily Intake so there is no official serving size. Our recommendation is whether you are new to using CBD oil or consider yourself to be a veteran, take it slow and start with small doses until you find a CBD oil dosage that works for you.

How much CBD oil should I take?

This could quite possibly be the most asked CBD related question of all time. To find out what the proper CBD oil dosage is and how much you should take, use the CBD oil calculator above. That calculator will take a variety of factors into account and make a recommendation to you. Not sure sure? No problem! Let’s break it down. The first thing to understand is there are several unique factors that could effect a CBD dosage. Just because your cousin Jennifer is taking 50 drops per night doesn’t necessarily mean that it will have the same effects on you. There is no industry standard in CBD dosing. Everyone is different. Here are some important factors to keep in mind:

  • The severity of the ailment or illness you are trying to treat.
  • The body weight of the individual.
  • The concentration of the CBD oil.
  • The chemistry of the individuals body.

The Severity of the Ailment or Illness

The severity of the ailment, illness, or injury absolutely has an effect on the amount of CBD oil you should be taking. The first step to calculating the ideal CBD oil dosage is determining whether your condition is mild, medium, or severe. The amount of CBD oil you take will be relative to the severity, thus the higher it is the more CBD oil you will take.

The Body Weight of the Individual

As with dosing most things, body weight matters! A 200lb man will have a different optimal dosage than a 100lb woman! We broke it down for you in the chart below.

The Concentration of the CBD Oil

This is what people mean when they ask “how much CBD is in the bottle”? This can very depending on the brand of oil you have purchased, but typically the standard bottle is 15 or 30 ml. The actual CBD content is usually found printed on the bottle and often time comes in 250 mg, 500 mg, or 1000mg.

The CBD Dosage Formula

In our opinon, the forumula below is the best we’ve come across. Now it’s worth mentioning this is our opinion and you know what they say about opinons.. Yeah.. Everyone has one. We’ve taken all of the information put forward in this article and came up with this.

Percentage = Severity/weight value ÷ (Amount of cbd in bottle ÷ Number of milliliters in bottle)
Suggested ml = Percentage × ML in dropper
Suggested drops = Percentage × Drops in dropper

Here’s a Quick Example

  • I weigh 150lbs
  • My headache is severe
  • My CBD oil is a 30 ml
  • My CBD oil is 500 mg CBD
  • A full dropper contains 1 ml
  • A full dropper contains 30 drops

The first step of this is figuring out the severity/weight value. Using the chart above I can see that my weight (150lbs) and a severity of severe calls for 18 mb of CBD. Now let’s input what we have.

18 mb ÷ (500 mg of CBD ÷ 30 ml bottle size) = 0.926

Now, how many ml of CBD oil should I take?

Easy! We just use our formula!

Suggest ml: 0.926 x 1= .926 ml

I would take .926 ml of CBD oil.

Now, how many drops of CBD oil would I take?

Also easy! We know that our dropper contains 30 drops and we now know how many ml of oil we should take. Now let’s plug it all in!

Suggested drops: .926 ml x 30 = 28 drops of CBD oil.

Now that we broke it down, try out the CBD dosage calculator above!

How long does CBD Stay in Your System?

This is another one of those fun “it depends” answers you are probably tired of hearing by now. It all depends on the chemistry of your body and how it reacts to the CBD. Generally we recommend redosing every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Everyone’s body reacts differently which is why we stress that you consult with your doctor before consuming CBD oil.
